ADA Compliance and Reasonable Accommodations Policy

Nebraska Maintenance Academy (NMA) complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and applicable state laws. NMA does not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities in admissions, access to programs, instruction, services, or employment.

Students with documented disabilities who require reasonable accommodations to participate fully in academic programs may request accommodations through the Executive Director or designated ADA Coordinator.

Accommodation Requests

  • Requests must be submitted in writing prior to the start of the program or as soon as the disability is identified.
  • Supporting documentation from a licensed professional describing the nature of the disability and recommended accommodations is required.
  • Approved accommodations may include, but are not limited to:
    • Modified instructional delivery
    • Extended test time
    • Alternative assessment formats
    • Assistive technology
    • Physical accessibility modifications

Limitations NMA is not required to lower academic standards or fundamentally alter program objectives. Accommodations must not compromise safety requirements or essential skill competencies of the Maintenance Technician Program.

All disability-related documentation is confidential and maintained separately from academic records.

  • All written exams, quizzes, and hands-on assessments are evaluated on a pass/fail basis.
  • Any assessment scoring 60% or below requires a retest.
  • A maximum of two (2) retest attempts is allowed.

Practical Skill Competency

  • Students must successfully complete all required hands-on demonstrations and practicum activities.
  • Failure to meet safety or skill requirements may result in dismissal.
